Weather & Trail:

Once again the weather boys pick out a perfect evening for the Nacho Ride.  The light breeze from the north was no factor.  After the morning rain the trail dried off very nice.  Of course there were a few trees that couldn’t stand the high winds but the Lower Platte NRD was hard at work.  They NRD had most of the trees cut and the trail was clear except for one location were it was ‘one lane’.  Other then a few wet spots the NRD did another excellent job getting the trail prepared for the Nacho’ers.  The mowing is on going so most of the shoulders were plenty wide.

One Eyed Dog Saloon:

Once again the OEDS staff was hard at work.  The Nacho’ers were arriving at various times during the evening so seating was no problem.  Dangerous Dan once again had the keg in operation in the patio area.  Sorry to see that not many Nacho’ers are using this service.  In case you’re wondering the Boulevard was ice cold.

If you were a late arrival you may have noticed Deputy August and Sheriff Robin trying to break into the cash register.  Well maybe it’s not ‘breaking and entering’ when the Sheriff and Deputy are doing the breaking and entering.  Hopefully they accomplished the task, when I left it didn’t look too good.  Maybe some of you got by with an IOU.

Wagers:

It’s time for some of you to collect your wagers on who from the OEDS staff would ride the Nacho.  Sheriff Robin and Deputy Laney rode the MoPac out from 84th Street.  They have broken the mold so now it’s time to encourage DD to make the trip and join in the MoPac fun.

Taco Ride, Thursday August 13th

Since the Nacho’ers now have their OEDS T-Shirts and the weather is still nice we have scheduled an evening for the Nacho’ers to drive to Council Bluffs for the Taco Ride.  You can find the directions and everything you need to know at www.tacoride.com.  If you click here you can find everything you will need to know.  Make sure you have lights and a helmet.  So if you want to have a good time and show some neighborly support maybe we can get a large number of Nacho’ers on the Taco Ride.  Display your OEDS shirt for a conversation topic.

It was also nice to see some Taco riders at the Nacho Ride.  In case you didn’t get to visit with Bill he was the one with the camera and also the one that built and maintains the Taco Ride website.  Also had an occasion to visit with another couple that came from Omaha and rode the MoPac from Wabash.  They were very happy with the trail from Wabash and enjoyed the evening.  We hope you all come back.

If you want to read Bill’s overview of the Nacho Ride, log onto the link: here This evaluation is something we can use to build the Nacho for the future.

$25.00 Gift Certificate:

The winner of the OEDS Gift Certificate is:  Scott Vicray.  (Hopefully I have the name correct; it was a little hard to read.)  Anyway congratulations Scott, remember to ride out to the OEDS to claim your prize which is redeemable at one of the bike shops.  More toys  J.  Sorry Doctor J, maybe next time.

See you next week on the Nacho and make plans to do the Taco on August 13th and promote the Nacho Ride.

Tour de Nacho Tuesday Update

Nacho Ride Tuesday was another success.  Cub-Wolfe had dropped off the “Nacho Ride” T-Shirts at the One Eyed Dog Saloon (OEDS) on Monday so even the first Nacho’ers to arrive (Teacher Nancy and friend) were able to purchase their commemorative shirts.  Dangerous Dan of the OEDS says the sales were brisk and most all of the larger shirts were sold.  If anyone happens to run into Cub Wolfe you may want to tell him to get his next order in.  Hopefully we will have more of the large shirts but since everyone is losing weight doing the “Nacho” maybe we won’t need as many.  Right now they are selling for $8.00 ea so bring your greenbacks on Tuesday.

Weather & Trail:

The ‘weather boys’ did an outstanding job of picking out a great evening for the ride.  Hopefully those few sprinkles at about 4:30 pm didn’t scare off too many people and they were actually busy with other activities.  The MoPac is looking great.  The shoulders, which were mowed a few weeks ago, haven’t grown much.  The Lower Platte NRD has been putting down some gravel in some selected areas.  One other note, in case you want to stop at the ‘bike’ shelter East of 148th street you will see that there is new mulch leading off the trail so now you won’t even dirty your shoes.  Great work LP NRD guys.

OEDS Gift Certificate:

Dangerous Dan made an observation that most of the $25.00 Gift Certificates have been won by the ladies.  Well the streak has been broken.  Sheriff Robin reports that the winner of the DD OEDS Gift Certificate is………………..Matt Millstead.  Remember Matt you have to ride the Nacho to claim your prize.

How Many Nacho’ers?

Sheriff Robin reported that 85 Nacho’ers signed their tickets for the free drawing.  Remember if you don’t put your name on a ticket you can’t be counted and more importantly you can’t win the drawing for the bike shop where you can buy more toys.

OEDS:

Many of you may have noticed that DD has made a few changes for the Nacho’ers.  Thanks Dan, Sheriff Robin, Deputies August and Turkey Foot for making this a great evening.

Rumor Control:

I received a bit of information that possibly a member of the OEDS staff may be riding the Nacho next week.  Any of you that want to make some wagers with your friends on who this may be can possibly grab a few extra bucks.  Of course we should probably have a photo for verification so be alert.

See you all next week on the Nacho.  Bring a friend or two for a great time.
