A special thanks to the NE Outdoor Addict for providing the summary of Tuesdays Nacho Ride.

The Fall Nacho Ride began Tuesday as rain showers tapered off. While the crowd was light the beauty of the MoPac Trail was on display in all its glory. The trail was in good shape and the OED was serving up great food, drinks & service. Hardly any wind on the trail made for a leisurely ride both ways. The Fall Nacho Ride continues on Tuesdays, so make plans to ride with this fun loving group who knows the best way to unwind Tuesday evenings is on a bike cruising the countryside.

Hope to see you all next week.  As the leaves begin to fall now would be a good time to see all of the new scenery.  You may also see some things that have not been visible because of the heavy foliage.

“Mark Your Calendars”

This is the information that I have pertaining to the activities for the next 7 days.  Judging from the conversations last night at the One Eyed Dog Saloon (OEDS) this should be an exciting week.

Saturday September 12th, 2009.  Sheriff Robin’s Farwell.  In case you had not heard Sheriff Robin is bidding the USA adios and moving to London, UK.  She had posted the following on the website: www. Nachoride.com

I thought I could let you all know why I'm leaving and where I am going. I am moving to London, UK for grad school at Roehampton University. I'm going to be studying Human Rights and International Relations for the next year. Moving to England has always been a dream of mine so I'm very excited to finally be seeing it all come true. I hope to see a bunch of you at the OED on Saturday the 12th!  Robin

The “Sheriff” indicated that she is going to the “Big Red” game on Saturday and depending upon traffic etc. she will arrive immediately thereafter.  The Karaoke guy will be starting at 9:00 PM and the Sheriff advised that she would sing the first song but she didn’t say that we could select the songs she will be singing.  Of course that may change as the evening progresses.  Anyway Saturday evening promises to be a significant event so try to “Nacho” to the OEDS and bid “Sheriff” Robin a farewell fitting for great lady who grew up with the Nacho Riders.  Two things to watch for in the future, the Sheriff will be resigning her position an possibly become an “Inspector” at Scotland Yard, and we can look forward to those new fancy dishes when she returns on vacation.  Fish & chips  or kidney pie anyone?

Tuesday September 15th, OEDS Nacho Appreciation Night.

Dangerous Dan has been scouring the countryside and has located a multitude of prizes for the OEDS NAN.  Upon your arrival you will be given a ticket that will be used for the drawings.  DD has plans for a ‘drawing’ every 15 minutes so this should suggest that you arrive early and stay late.  If you stay a bit longer then usual it will also require lights to arrive back home safely.  If anyone has an extra set of lights Cub-Wolfe you may want to let him borrow them or he will miss out on 75% of the free stuff.  DD will also have the grill fired up and the ‘frosty mugs’ chilled so this should be a good time.

Best Nacho Ride or OEDS costume:

We will also have a prize for the best Nacho Ride or OEDS costume.  It would be fitting for the OEDS Staff to make the selection for this prize.  Also don’t forget to bring an extra $8.00 for a Nacho Ride T-Shirt.

Ride Update:

Not much to report, the trail was in good condition except for the rough spots just east of the trailhead and then across the bridge west of Walton.  The leaves are changing colors and the setting sun is making for some interesting photo opportunities so you may want to bring a camera on these fall rides.

Sorry I don’t have the name of the $25.00 OEDS Gift Certificate but will post it in the very near future.

The “Ride”:

Once again another beautiful evening greeted the Nacho'ers.  It was cloudy and on a couple occasion there may have been a drop or two of moisture but a great evening. The Weather Station south of Eagle was reporting mid 70’s temperature at 6:30 PM and as you all know the humidity was in the mid 80s.  Not much wind unless you came back after dark.  Remember, as the daylight hours get shorter you will need to get your lights in working order.

$25.00 Gift Certificate Winners:

Sorry but I missed getting the winner of last week drawing posted. The winner of last week’s bike shop gift certificate was Nick Soper.

While I’m on the subject and so I don’t forget this week’s winner, it is Todd Long. Congratulations on both winners.  Make sure you see DD for your certificate.

“The Crowd”:

The attendance was good, we didn’t’ get an official count but there were Nacho’ers still arriving at 8:00 PM.  It looked like the One Eyed Dog staff was busy and not able to take a break. There were even additional people on staff and of course Dangerous Dan was at the helm of the OEDS ship.

There were some new riders from the opposite end of the MoPac last night. I talked to one lady who drove from Louisville and then rode from Louisville to Elmwood where they picked up some additional riders and made the trip to the OEDS. I also talked to a couple of ladies that were so energetic on the ride from Lincoln to Eagle that they kept going and made the turn around in Elmwood. Way to go ladies. Of course the ‘cow herding’ experience was extra. J

“Who said it was OVER?”

I saw the Lincoln Bike Club website yesterday where it posted the Nacho Ride as being “Officially Over”. Bummer, but sure don’t know who made that decision when we have many more Tuesday’s left on the calendar for this year.

So the Nacho Ride is officially not over and the Nacho (Fall) Ride "Falling in love with Nachos" continues Tuesday night September 1st. We could call next Tuesday’s ride a warm-up to the September 15th appreciation night ride.

The 2009 Nacho Ride is not Over and to signify this fact Dangerous Dan (DD) is planning a Nacho Ride Fall Appreciation Party on Tuesday September 15th at the OEDS. DD has arranged for ‘special prizes’ to be given away throughout the evening.  We are also working on some other ‘awards’ for this “Fall Nacho Ride” so stay tuned to this website for more information.

One More Date” to mark on your calendars: September 12th, 2009.  Saturday Night.

This is Sheriff Robin’s Official going away PARTY. I am waiting for all of the details but for now just mark that Saturday evening as “Ride to the OEDS” night and ‘wish the Sheriff safe travels’.
