Special Thanks to the NE Outdoor Addict for his update.

There was a steady stream of cyclists riding the MoPac Trail from Lincoln to Eagle for the weekly Nacho Ride. Despite the heat and humidity lots of us rode.

The NRD has been working in Walton where the rock is real loose. It'll be great if it makes the trail safer and easier to pedal through.

It was a great evening for a Nacho Ride. The forecast was for 40% chance of showers but you should have been dry unless you stayed at the OEDS all night and came back Wednesday morning.

The recent rains have made the MoPac a little soft in places and of course there were a few water puddles just to make life interesting. The MoPac crew has been clearing some of the downed tree limbs along the trail so no big problems were encountered unless you count the tree branches removed by “Legal Counsel” (refer to NOA’s blog). Hopefully the MoPac maintenance crew will begin removing some of the overhanging branches along the trail. For now you have to stay alert or you will get ‘clothes lined’ by a branch. These branches over the trail should discourage anyone from trying to ride after dark and not using lights.

As mentioned in the past you have to be careful at Walton because the ‘loose gravel’ will give you a ‘rush’ if you’re not alert. The MoPac crew has erected some signs so be mindful of that area.

I don’t have a name of the winner of the OEDS door prize so hopefully one of you received a phone call from DD. The numbers looked good last night with many riders headed east on the trail.

See you next week and tell your friends to Nacho.

PS: (We have posted some new pictures from last week.  You will see some photos of the new public restrooms located just south of the swimming pool in Eagle.)

2010-06-29 Nacho Update: PDF Print E-mail

Sorry for the delay in writing but this past week has been a bit busy.  This will be short and uneventful; hopefully something really newsworthy will occur this evening.

The Nacho Ride was great; we had about 96 riders signed up for the ‘door prize’ drawing.  Remember you have to sign up to be considered and also be counted.  The winner was Jason Johnson, congratulations.

Trail Update:

The area around Walton is still a bit hazardous when you encounter the loose gravel just west of the Walton Rest area so be careful.  The MoPac people have reworked the washouts just west of 162nd Street, good job.  Also be careful when you cross most of the roadways, the recent rains have cut some ditches near the shoulders.

Weather Report:

Brad Anderson 10/11 is reporting the forecast for TONIGHT: Partly cloudy with a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms. Lows in the low to upper 60s. South-southeast wind at 5 to 10 mph.  Sounds like a great evening to Nacho to the One Eyed Dog.  See you all on the trail.
